Refinance closing costs – am i getting robbed?
New Loan amount is 6,398..
Payoffs (ancient loan plus all debt) – 5,304
Cash in hand – 47
That leaves 346 in closing costs.
The largest cost is the one I am concerned about…
29 payable to the real estate office used for closing
3246 – discount points
2132 – commitment fee
795 – Attorney fee ( I never saw an attorney)
275 – Attorney (C & E) whatever the heck that is
91 – credit report
225 – paid to the notary public – who is the only person
besides me at the closing.
872.00 paid to the bank as "interest"
874.00 paid to the bank as "escrow"
3198.00 paid to Dept of HUD since it is an FHA loan
10.00 warehouse fee
I am really concerned with the 29 that they want to charge me to close at some real estate office. I’m also not pleased with the 00 in lawyer fees, when I am not using their lawyer.

This is because you live in a "Lawyer State", I’ve always thought you guys got screwed by attorneys since we in California are only charged $200 because we are a Grant Deed State.
795 – Attorney fee ( I never saw an attorney)
This was for your "Mortgage Insurance"
3198 – paid to Dept of HUD since it is an FHA loan
The rest of the fees are normal and customary for an FHA loan.
You didn’t get too terrible a deal, I would certainly done it for several thousand less but…
